Stump Removal & Grinding in Las Vegas

A leftover stump is a tripping hazard, an eyesore, and an open invitation to pests and regrowth. We grind stumps well below grade, clear the surface roots, and clean up — so you reclaim the space for grass, gravel, a new tree, or hardscape.

When You Need It

Why remove a stump?

Grinding an old stump is worth it when:

  • It's a tripping hazard in the yard or walkway
  • The stump is sprouting suckers or refusing to die
  • It's attracting termites, beetles, or other pests
  • You want to replant or build in that spot
  • It's an eyesore or your HOA flagged it
  • Surface roots are cracking nearby hardscape

How It Works

Our stump grinding process

Locate & protect

We check for sprinklers and utilities and protect the surrounding area.

Grind below grade

The stump is ground several inches below the surface so it won't regrow or show.

Clear surface roots

Visible surface roots are ground or cut back where they're causing problems.

Backfill & clean

We backfill the hole with grindings or soil and leave the area clean and ready.

Local Expertise

Grinding through caliche

Digging a stump out by the roots is rough going in Las Vegas — our soil hides layers of caliche, a rock-hard calcium hardpan that wrecks shovels and makes full excavation slow and expensive. Grinding is almost always the cleaner, more affordable choice here: it pulverizes the stump in place without tearing up your yard.

It also solves problems unique to the desert — ficus and mesquite surface roots that lift pavers, and stumps that draw termites looking for moisture in a dry climate. The grindings make great free mulch for the rest of your landscape. We grind stumps of every size across Henderson, Summerlin, North Las Vegas, and the whole valley.

FAQ

Stump Removal questions, answered

How deep do you grind the stump?

Typically several inches below grade — enough to replant grass or small plants over it. If you're planning to build or pave, let us know and we'll grind deeper.

Can I plant or build where the stump was?

Yes. After grinding and backfilling you can plant most things over the spot. For a brand-new tree in the exact location, we'll remove more of the root mass and grindings first.

What happens to the roots?

Grinding handles the stump and major surface roots. Deeper lateral roots are left to decompose naturally, which they do without regrowing once the stump is gone.

Does a ground stump attract termites?

Removing the stump actually reduces pest risk. We grind thoroughly and can haul the grindings away if you'd prefer not to keep them as mulch near the house.

Do you remove the wood chips and grindings?

We can backfill with them as free mulch, or haul them away — your choice. Just tell us when we quote the job.
